A trainer once told me if you want to get fit you must eat black beans. This trainer was a pole vaulter, a D-1 college basketball player and built like a brick shithouse.  That was 15 years ago and some of the best advice I have ever received regarding exercise and nutrition.  Beans are chock full of antioxidants, fiber, protein, and carbohydrates, which is why they need to be on your shopping list at all times. A diet rich in beans can reduce your risk of several serious medical conditions and help your body process calories more effectively.  Scratch potatoes off your list and add beans.  You will enjoy the difference in taste and notice the difference in your waistline.
