So why should a man wear a wrist watch when every person around you can tell you what time it is?
Watches Are a Style Piece
First of all, it’s a style piece, a decoration for your outfit and your attire. Why should we let women have all the fun with jewelry. Granted you need to be careful here, but a nice watch is handsome and an object to be noticed, like a cool ring or any other accessory. Jewelry never goes out of style, so why should wrist watches.
Watches Enhance Your Personal Branding
Wearing a watch is also a potential part of your personal branding. We once wrote about style explaining how you are always going to be judged by the way you dress, so you might as well control that message. Sure, NOT wearing a watch has kind of a surfer or punk vibe – I dont give shit, the time starts when I arrive. But wearing a watch can work for you in other situations, like dates, events or interviews – Hey, Im a cool guy, look at this dope watch. Personal branding is important and wearing a watch can help you deliver that message without having to read your proverbial resume, which is a good thing.
Watches Keep You Away From Your Phone
Wearing a watch also keeps you from having to consult your phone to tell the time. In today’s face-in-phone society, that is a wonderful thing. There are also times you are simply curious as to the time, say when your chatty friend is telling one of his neverending stories and you don’t want to be rude and pull out your phone. Plus you just look cooler (and polite) not having your face in your damn phone all the time and more people should understand that.
Women Notice Watches
Women always look at a man’s shoes when they are taking inventory of our manliness; everyone knows that. But women also notice watches when they are present. Wearing a cool watch can send a subtle message to a woman you are interested in. Its also a fantastic conversation starter. If a woman sitting next to you at a hotel bar, for instance, wants to chat with you, a watch is a perfect excuse for her to ask you a question and spark a conversation. If you are a single guy looking not to be single, pick up a couple watches. Having a casual and a formal watch is a good idea, just like sunglasses.
Automatic Watches
An automatic watch is a watch that continues to operate due to the regular motion of the wearer’s wrist. Automatic wristwatches don’t need winding if worn daily. The energy is stored by using a half-disc metal weight, called a rotor, that spins when the arm is moved. This energy is used to power the watch and can keep the watch going at night or while the watch isn’t being worn. Stored energy in an automatic wristwatch can keep an unworn watch running for 24 to 48 hours.
